Julie E. Cooper is senior lecturer in the Department of
Political Science at Tel Aviv University. Her research
interests include the history of political thought, secularism
and secularization, religion and politics, and Jewish
political thought. This article is based on a presentation
given at a conference devoted to “How Should We Think
About the Nation-State Law?” held at Tel Aviv University
on October 21, 2018.
The Nation-State Law may mark a turning point in Jewish political thought beyond
the nation-state frame, which may have democratic potential, if we can mobilize those
new political possibilities.
