Mai Sayigh (b 1940), a Palestinian poet and a writer born in Gaza, graduated in 1960 from the University of Cairo with a B.A. in Sociology. She has particular interest in freedom, and women liberation movement. Since 1971, she has been the president of the Union of Palestinian Women, and participated in enormous feminist meetings around the world. She published three collections of poetry.
