Extracts from an article that appeared in 1898, exactly 100 years ago, in the Hebrew journal Hashiloach, edited by Ahad Haam in Russia and printed in Berlin. sapir(1869-1911), who was born in Jerusalem an taught Arabic and later Hebrew in Petah Tikva, saw Hebrew and Arabic as sister languages and was replying to articles which claimed that Arabic would corrupt the renewed Hebrew Language.
