Stephen Ogin is a frequent visitor to Israel for the annual International Summer Program in Yiddish at Tel Aviv University. He is an Emeritus Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Surrey, UK.
On visits to Israel over the past few years, I’ve managed to avoid engaging with the
details of the occupation. A four-day trip in November 2022 focusing on the West
Bank and East Jerusalem, however, introduced me to a reality that is both shocking
and upsetting.
