Anat Thon-Ashkenazy is a lawyer and feminist activist. She is former CEO of the NGO Itach-Maaki (“with you” in Hebrew and Arabic) – Women Lawyers for Social Justice, where she represented dozens of women’s organizations that demand equality and equal representation in decision-making bodies for women from diverse groups in Israel and initiated and led the design of the Comprehensive Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nation Security Council Resolution 1325.
The Civil Society Action Plan redefined "security" to include many voices among
women's organizations and show that any change in the concept of women’s
representation and protection requires a broad concept of security.
