Ammar is Lapis Group Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, former CARE International’s Jordan Country Director, Feb. 2019 - Oct. 2023, where he led a portfolio of humanitarian and development programs with emphasis on sustainable solutions and long-term change to better the lives of vulnerable Jordanians and refugees, with a particular focus on women and girls.  Former Executive Director of Open Society Foundations Arab Regional Office (OSF), From 2012 to 2018.He is Member of New York Bar Association, holds an LLB from the Hebrew University, and LL.M. from the University of Virginia. Born and raised in Palestine, father of two children.
